We selected Ryan’s Suzuki RMX because it’s more than just a clean looking bike. It’s a unique machine that has been thoughtfully transformed into the perfect trail bike for the way he rides.
The RMX came heavily restricted from the factory, but Ryan opened it up and equipped it with a full Yoshimura exhaust and fuel programmer, a Twin Air filter, Cycra handguards, and a custom seat with additional padding. The result is a nimble, athletic trail bike that Ryan describes as feeling like “what a peppy 350 would be if it existed.” It has the power and ability to tear through single track while remaining comfortable and manageable for an entire day of exploring.
That custom seat may be his favorite upgrade. It was roughly a $600 investment, but the added comfort allows him to ride longer without a narrow factory seat cutting the day short. Combined with the RMX’s headlight, skid plate, electric start, easy to use kickstarter, and kickstand, the bike gives him the capability of a serious dirt bike with the practical features he wants as a trail rider.
Ryan doesn’t necessarily head out with a specific trail or destination in mind. He enjoys going with the flow, discovering beautiful scenery, and seeing where the bike takes him. His favorite adventure so far has been Utah’s Paiute Trail.
What makes this RMX truly worthy of Bike of the Month is how perfectly it fits its rider. Ryan wanted something nimble, capable, comfortable, and fun. A bike that lets him enjoy the ride, take in the scenery, and still attack some single track when the opportunity comes along. His next possible upgrade is a larger IMS fuel tank to extend its current 50 to 55 mile range and make longer adventures even easier.
